“Great way to kick off your BA stay”

Having already spent a few days in BA, we decided to take a food tour to get some local knowledge to guide us around the San Telmo neighborhood. We were fortunate that Jorge was able to fit us in at short notice. Jorge constructed a tour around our interests and escorted us to a number of traditional establishments and a wine bar. His knowledge and passion for Argentinian cuisine was excellent and we were able to learn lots about the history of wine-making and why Malbec is such a successful grape variety in Argentina. We were introduced to some typical lunchtime fare - empanadas, steak, cheeses - all washed down with generous amounts of the aforementioned Malbec. And we were also taken to one of the oldest coffee houses in BA to finish up. Aside from the food and wine, it was Jorge's great company that made the trip. He is an obliging host and as we wandered about the streets of San Telmo, we meandered through conversation topics from Argentinian politics and the economy; football and rugby; South American history; and back to fresh produce and where it is grown etc. Thoroughly enjoyable afternoon with Jorge and it would be a great way to start your trip to BA. It was great value for money too.

“San Telmo Food Tour”

We were in Buenos Aires for the Superclasico Boca Juniors v River Plate and arranged this local food tour. The game was then postponed for 4 weeks and we had to reschedule everything including flights trips planned and this food tour. This proved to be no problem at all. Jorge met us at a wine shop where we were greeted by Flavio and Walter and introduced to a selection of Argentinian wines and food. It was a great way to start the tour and get the conversation and wines flowing! Jorge like me turned out to be a River fan something I intended to keep very quiet on the day of the match! We were then shown the local market and had a convivial lunch at an excellent local restaurant followed by coffee at an historic bar. What a great day and what a great place BsAs is! We very much enjoyed Jorge's company as he shared his extensive knowledge of the food and wines on offer as well as the history of the places! He shared with us some helpful tips and by the end of the tour we all felt like friends who had known Jorge for years! It is simply the best way to get to know a place and to sample local food and wine!
